The Peninsula Park Community Center is a significant building in Oregon, designed by Ellis Lawrence in 1912.
Portland Parks and Recreation assembled a project team comprised of McBride Architecture, PP&R staff and Mechanical, Electrical and Structural Engineers on retainer agreements with the City of Portland. A feasibility study identified more than $2M in needed Improvements and systems/finishes upgrades.
The community was involved in making the decisions necessary to keep the project within an approximately $1M budget. Important programmatic elements of the project included new access to pool facilities independent of the building, new accessible locker and shower rooms, other accessibility improvements and preparation for future pool and interior program spaces.
